In his column in this week’s Gaelic Life, Steven Poacher explains some of the lingo used in the modern game of Gaelic Football.
He says it is important that coaches understand the newest techniques and skills.
One of those is channelling:
“Channeling is basially used when coaching tackling or defending. The practice involved a defender delaying making a tackle on a forward in order to direct them towards a particular area of the field, or towards another defender.
“Good defenders will try to force a player into a channel where they will have to use their weaker side.”
