We’re bringing something new to the table for GAA teams this winter! Over the past few years I’ve coached numerous individual players both online and in person through their off-season strength and conditioning programs. On top of working with individuals I’ve been fortunate enough to be brought on board with a number of teams to coach them through both their pre-season training blocks and keep on top of their fitness throughout the season.
I’ve had my thinking cap on throughout the year and tried to come up with ways in which we could offer something different to teams who want to start off their pre-season training with a sharp focus, a head start on their rivals and some take away, actionable training protocols.
With all that in mind, we at The Edge have joined forces with Tyrone’s All-Ireland winning trainer Fergal McCann in bringing you our Edge GAA Performance Camp. Combining Fergal’s highly successful coaching skills and his experienced match day eye along with our own coaching teams knowledge of recovery protocols, mobility and movement drills we’re offering a One-Day team activity that will help make your pre-season a launch pad for a successful year on and off the field.
The day will based at The Edge where we’ll start with Fergal leading a tactical analysis of a game/clips which your coach will have sent in advance. This will lay the foundation for the pitch session later in the day working through systems of play that reflect information Fergal has gathered from his video analysis.
Before getting stuck into the team specific pitch work our coaches will take you through mobility flows that can be added to your daily training routine as well as some plyometric and running mechanic drills that when added to the start of every pitch session can only aid the athletic development of your team as the season progresses.
After the hard work is done there’ll be a team bonding
opportunity with some pitch-based competition, finishing off with a team challenge in Knockmany Forest.
We’re confident that the Edge GAA Performance Camp can be a springboard toward achieving the goals set out at the start of the year.
With the likelihood of summer breaks across the province we’ll be encouraging all the teams who participate in the winter session to come back in the summer to reflect on how effectively they’ve implemented the performance camps take actionable points and build upon that to kick on for a strong Championship campaign.
Lots of teams already have their own men leading the strength and conditioning but if you feel like you’d benefit from your programming being led by the team at The Edge then we’d be happy to help you make the most of the small pre-season window with our own brand of concise, progressive training methods.
