Ulster players named on the Tailteann Cup Team of the Year

THERE are six Ulster players names on the Tailteann Cup Team of the Year including five from champions Down.

Antrim’s Kavan Keenan is a selection in his first season of intercounty football and is preparing for All Saints’ intermediate final on Saturday.

Conor Laverty’s Down were winners and are represented by Pierce Laverty, Ryan McEvoy and Daniel McGuinness included.

The other two are midfielder Odhrán Murdock and Pat Havern who found himself playing here, there and everywhere in Down’s winning run.

Murdock and McEvoy will lock horns on Sunday as Burren aim to end Kilcoo’s winning run in the Down SFC final.

The Tailteann Cup Team of the Year was decided by a selection committee chaired by Pat Daly.

The winners will be presented with their awards tomorrow night at a special black-tie event at Croke Park where they will be guests of honour alongside the Champion 15 and Joe McDonagh Team of the Year members.

The event will be streamed live by the GAA on YouTube form 7pm.
