Derry duo named on All-Star football team

TWO of Derry’s Ulster winning team have been listed on the All-Star team of the year.

Rory Gallagher’s side took home the Anglo Celt Cup for the first time since 1998 before bowing out to Galway in the All-Ireland semi-final.

Skipper Chrissy McKaigue – who has played 113 times for Derry – and midfielder Conor Glass were on the team released on Thursday morning and are the only Ulster players listed.

Derry’s Ethan Doherty has also been nominated for Player of the Year.

All three Derry players lined out in Sunday’s Derry SFC final with Glen going on to retain their title.

McKaigue is Sleacht Néill’s first ever All-Star, while Glass is Glen’s first since Enda Gormley’s back to back awards of 1992 and 1993.
