Tyrone name team to face Armagh

By Niall Gartland

ATTACKING star Darragh Canavan has been named to start Tyrone’s Ulster Championship semi-final against Armagh at Clones tomorrow, having sat out their provincial opener against Cavan with a hamstring injury.

That comes with the caveat that there could still be last-minute changes to the team announced this morning to take on reigning All-Ireland champions Armagh, with a place in the Ulster final up for grabs.

The vastly experienced Mattie Donnelly has also been recalled to the starting 15 having played a substitute role in Tyrone’s 1-24 to 0-20 victory over the Breffni County.

Manager Malachy O’Rourke can also call upon a formidable bench with Mark Bradley making a return having sat out the last two matches, while there is more good news with the availability of 2021 All-Ireland winning captain Padraig Hampsey, who is in line for his first playing appearance this season having recovered from long-term injury.

Starting team:

Niall Morgan, Aidan Clarke, Peter Teague, Niall Devlin, Michael McKernan, Rory Brennan, Kieran McGeary, Brian Kennedy, Conn Kilpatrick, Aodhan Donaghy, Mattie Donnelly, Ciarán Daly, Darren McCurry, Peter Harte, Darragh Canavan

Subs: Oisin O’Kane, Cormac Quinn, Padraig Hampsey, Frank Burns, Ben McDonnell, Shea O’Hare, Joe Oguz, Mark Bradley, Seanie O’Donnell, Ruairi Canavan, Eoin McElholm
