Tyrone camogs continue winning streak

By Niall Gartland

CARA Little was one of the stars of the show on a memorable day out for the Tyrone camogs last Sunday, who annexed the Ulster Junior Championship title with a 3-15 to 2-5 victory over Down seconds.

The Naomh Treasa player scored two spectacular goals on the day as Tyrone claimed their first provincial title in a decade.

It’s been a hugely productive season for the Tyrone camogs – only last month they came out on top of the Division Four final and they’re yet to lose a game all year – and Little says that the new management team, spearheaded by Paul O’Grady, deserve significant credit for their efforts behind the scenes.

“This is definitely the best season we’ve had since I’ve come along. We’re unbeaten all season and like to think we can keep this going in the championship. All the boys in the management team have really helped us grow as players. Speaking for myself, I’ve progressed a lot since the start of the year and I’m bringing that back to my club as well.”

The management team are getting wholesale buy-in from their players, who are putting in the hard yards on the training ground and the results on game-day have duly followed.

Little said: “All the girls have put in a serious shift, three times, sometimes four times a week. The management really believe in us and that’s the main thing. All four of them are really great at keeping us motivated.”

And on what it means to win their first provincial title since 2014, she added: “It’s absolutely unbelievable. We’re delighted to win an Ulster title, it means a lot to us and we’ve worked really hard to achieve this.”
