AFTER another weekend of action across all codes, here is our latest Gaelic Life Team of the Week.
It was a significant weekend for the footballers of Armagh and Donegal who clinched top of their All-Ireland group.
Antrim and Down advanced in the Tailteann Cup and Derry ended their losing streak to keep themselves in the Sam Maguire conversation.
Here is our selection…
1 MICK BYRNE Antrim
Good early save, clipped over three ‘45s and had a hand in the crucial goal against Fermanagh.
2 CONOR MCCLUSKEY Derry
His goal was classic Clucker – and got Derry out of their funk.
3 MATTIE DONNELLY Tyrone
Donnelly’s superb season continued with another fine display against Cork.
4 PETER HEALY Antrim
An inspired substitution by Andy McEntee, he helped turn the game for the Saffrons against Fermanagh.
5 RYAN MCHUGH Donegal
Brilliant finish for the goal and tore Clare apart all day. Ended up with 1-4.
6 TIERNAN KELLY Armagh
Wore no. 6 but popped up everywhere, including for the crucial goal.
7 SHEALAN JOHNSTON Down
Four points from play against Wicklow in Newry as their Tailteann Cup run continues.
8 CIARÁN MOORE Donegal
Got through a mountain of work against Clare.
9 BARRY MCBENNETT Monaghan
Came on early and produced the goods, and then some, against Meath.
10 GERARD SMITH Cavan
On the losing side against Roscommon but he was outstanding.
11 CIARAN MCFAUL Derry
Derry’s best player as they got back on the horse against Westmeath.
12 JENNIFER CURRY Armagh
A first-half hat-trick as Armagh eased to victory over Down in Dromara in the championship.
13 CONOR TURBITT Armagh
Scored well and set up the game-changing goal in Sligo.
14 DARRAGH CANAVAN Tyrone
The hips don’t lie, this man is just a magician – with Cork the latest to find that out the hard way.
15 EIMEAR SMYTH Fermanagh
Not for the first time, her accuracy proved the difference as Fermanagh beat Sligo.
