STEELSTOWN will now face Ballymaguigan on Friday night to decide who will represent Derry in the Ulster Senior Ladies Championship later this month.
The game will take place at Owenbeg on Friday night at 7.30pm.
The winners will travel to Cavan champions Lurgan on Sunday, October 20.
It is a change from the original fixture of Steelstown drawn to play intermediate champions Magherafelt, confirmed by Derry LGFA to Gaelic Life.
Derry LGFA had originally nominated Steelstown as their senior champions, going forward into the Ulster senior grade after winning last season’s Ulster intermediate title.
The rest of the Derry clubs were divided between the intermediate and junior grades.
Magherafelt were crowned intermediate champions after Saturday’s extra-time win over Ballymaguigan.
Eoghan Rua beat Desertmartin to land the junior title.
Ulster LGFA informed Derry that a senior final must be arranged to crown a senior champion.
Derry’s original fixture was Steelstown versus intermediate champions Magherafelt.
Had Magherafelt won it, they would’ve represented Ulster at senior level, a different avenue than entering the Derry intermediate championship at the start of the competition.
In a change, Derry LGFA made a new fixture with the winners of Steelstown and Ballymaguigan the Oakleaf County’s representatives at senior level.
Magherafelt take on Antrim champions St Gall’s while Eoghan Rua take on Fermanagh’s Knockninny in Ulster.
