Michael Murphy is set to make a sensational return to the Donegal senior panel.
The Glenswilly ace announced his retirement at the end of the 2022 season, and despite rumours to the contrary, ruled out a return last season when Jim McGuinness returned to the helm.
However, with the new proposed rules playing a major part in his decision, he is expected back in the Tir Chonaill camp when they return to training next month.
Since retiring from inter-county duty, Murphy has been a regular on the media scene, particularly with BBC and GAAGO.
The 35-year-old, who has continued to lead the attack for his club ever since, will now return to playing as Donegal try to build on last year’s Ulster triumph.
Murphy’s legacy as one of the greatest players ever to play the game is already secured with the crowning moment coming in 2012 when he captained the county to just their second-ever All-Ireland title.
He also captained Donegal to five Ulster titles and was a three-time All-Star.
