ANTRIM have appointed former Sleacht Néill and Tyrone manager Michael McShane as their new u-20 hurling manager.
McShane managed his native Ballycastle before a nine-year stint with the Emmet’s where he steered them to the breakthrough in Ulster, with four provincial titles in all.
Tyrone won one of the two Nickey Rackard Cup finals under his watch and were promoted to Division 2A.
He takes over the Saffron u-20 post from Paudie Shivers who is now part of Davy Fitzgerald’s backroom team with the seniors.
McShane has put together an experienced backroom team.
Cormac Donnelly, who was with him in Sleacht Néill, is on board having had experience with Derry senior hurlers and as a manager with Éire Óg Carrickmore
Recently appointed Dunloy joint manager Shane Elliott and former St John’s manager Brian McFall are also on board.
Kevin Martin is also on board, who worked as goalkeeper coach in Dunloy under Gregory O’Kane.
Johnny McIntosh is on board as the Liaison Officer with Aaron Smiley in as Strength and Conditioning coach.
Dr Noel Brick completes the setup as Sports Psychologist who was also with McShane in Sleacht Néill and Tyrone.
He will be part of Malachy O’Rourke’s football management team in Tyrone this year.
