Gaelic Life team of the week

AFTER another weekend of action across all codes, here is our latest Gaelic Life Team of the Week.

Donegal saw off Tyrone to keep their bandwagon on the road ahead of their trip to Cork and Armagh got back to winning ways against Westmeath.

Derry camogs bounced back from their Ulster final defeat to turn Antrim over in the All-Ireland series

There was success for Down u-20 hurlers with their Monaghan counterparts coming up short on final day.

Derry minors were made to battle all the way against Armagh to back up last year’s Ulster title.

Here is our selection…

1  BLAINE HUGHES Armagh

Got down smartly to deny Westmeath a way back into the game.

2 GAVIN O’ROURKE Armagh

Swept up danger, including an early Derry goal chance, and got back brilliantly to put off Eamon Young who was also in on goal.

3 BRENDAN MCCOLE Donegal

Another fabulous man-marking display, this time on the isolated Darragh Canavan.

4 CAOLAN TAGGART Down

Got forward for two points in Down’s high-scoring Joe McDonagh Cup loss to Offaly.

5 SHEA PUCCI Down

Brilliant at half-back as Down claimed the All-Ireland U-20 B title at Croke Park against Roscommon.

6 CIARAN MACKIN  Armagh

Excellent against Westmeath, Mackin really has been superb in his three years in orange.

7 LUKE GRANT Derry

A fine display from the Derry minor against Armagh in Omagh.

8 PEADAR MOGAN  Donegal

A thorn in the side of Tyrone all day as Jim McGuinness’ side impressed.

9 JASON MCGEE Donegal

Another fine display around the middle with Tyrone having little answer.

10 EAMON YOUNG   Derry

The difference maker as the Oakleafers edged out Armagh for Ulster honours.

11 JAMES MCNAUGHTON Antrim

Player of the Match display kept Antrim in the Leinster Championship.

12 SINEAD QUINN Armagh

A hat-trick against Tyrone got Armagh’s campaign off to a fine start.

13 ANDREW MURNIN Armagh

Really hitting form and such a help in both attack and defence.

14 BRÍD ROGERS Derry

The former Down player caused Antrim all sorts of hassle in Cushendall.

15 RYAN O’ROURKE Monaghan

Brilliant free-taking helped Monaghan all the way, but their U-20 C final ended in penalty heartbreak.
