When the league final with Tyrone was in the melting pot, he stood up and defended his goal brilliantly.

5 DEARBHLA MAGEE Down

Massively influential in Down’s relegation-avoiding draw with Kerry.

6 CAOLAN MCGONAGLE   Donegal

Solid throughout and kicked a wonder score in the crucial moments.

7 EOIN MCEVOY  Derry

Just the two Croke Park final goals against Dublin. What a find he has been for the Oakleaf County.

8 BRENDAN ROGERS Derry

Ran himself into the ground. Great vision to set up Eoin McEvoy’s goal.

9 JAMES MCCANN Tyrone

Big performance around the middle as the Red Hands really put it up to Derry.

10 LIAM KERR  Down

Kicked three points from play on a bitterly disappointing night for Down.

11 CIARAN THOMPSON Donegal

On his 100th appearance, picked up the Player of the Match award against Armagh.

12 RORY GRUGAN Armagh

Went out of the game in the third quarter, but probably Armagh’s best player.

Kept the scoreboard ticking over against Carlow, but it wasn’t enough to starve off relegation.
