Gavin Devlin appointed as Magherafelt boss

By Michael McMullan

MAGHERAFELT have appointed Gavin Devlin as their new senior football manager for the 2025 season, Gaelic Life can confirm.

The Tyrone All-Ireland winning defender takes over from duo Brian McGuckin and Richard Thornton.

Six-time winners Rossa were last the Oakleaf champions in 2019, reaching the final the following season and were beaten a Sleacht Néill team coached by Devlin.

They also lost to eventual All-Ireland champions Glen in the 2023 decider.

Devlin has coached at inter-county level with Tyrone, Louth and most recently Derry last season under Mickey Harte.

He was in charge of his native Ardboe in recent seasons and is currently involved in a youth development role with Louth GAA.

Magherafelt retained the Derry minor championship this season and were drawn against St Brigid’s in the opening round of the Ulster Championship.
