Creggan lodge appeal against quarter-final defeat to Lámh Dhearg

By Michael McMullan

CREGGAN have filed an appeal following their Antrim SFC quarter-final defeat Lámh Dhearg.

The sides were level 0-12 each before the Hannahstown men won the game after extra-time to set up a semi-final against Portglenone.

Gaelic Life understands Creggan’s appeal comes after Lámh Dhearg had an extra player on the pitch during the game, a period that saw them score a point.

It comes after Kilmacud Crokes’ controversial win over Glen in the 2023 All-Ireland Club final when the Crokes had two extra players on the pitch in the closing stages as the Watties chased an equaliser. After much debate and controversy, Glen chose not to pursue a replay.

If Creggan are granted a replay, time is of the essence with the semi-finals down for decision on the weekend of September 28/29.

As it stands, champions Cargin are due to take on St Brigid’s in a repeat of the league final with Lámh Dhearg drawn against Portglenone.
