FORMER Derry underage star Callum Brown has signed a one-year contract extension with GWS Giants.
Brown impressed on his AFL debut back in August, scoring two goals and playing for 71 minutes in a victory over Geelong.
The Limavady youngster signed a two-year international rookie contract with GWS Giants back in 2018 after successfully undergoing a trial play. He is the Giants’ first ever Irish recruit.
Derry fans will be particularly interested in his progress as he played a major part in leading them to Ulster Minor and U-20 championship titles.
His fellow county man Anton Tohill recently returned to Ireland to study a degree in Medicine after a stint with AFL Club Collingwood. His move home came as something of a surprise as he had made his senior debut with the club against Port Adelaide back in July.
However, Tohill had always stated his intention of becoming a doctor and is likely to feature for Derry at county level in the coming years.
