DUP leader Arlene Foster has not ruled out attending Fermanagh’s Ulster final against Donegal or Down.

The Fermanagh and South Tyrone Assembly member tweeted her congratulations to the side after Sunday’s semi-final win over Monaghan, and told Gaelic Life that she wouldn’t rule out being present for the final saying “let’s wait and see.”

“Fermanagh’s achievement in securing a place in the Ulster GAA final is a significant achievement. Many of my neighbours are heavily involved in GAA. I was recognising how important the achievement was for them and many in the county.

“The final is the 24 June. There’s a lot of water to run under the bridge between now and then. Let’s wait and see.”

It would be a hugely symbolic gesture if Mrs Foster did attend, although it would not be the first time the DUP has engaged with the GAA.

Edwin Poots, then Sports Minister, attended a Down and Donegal McKenna Cup in 2008 while Paul Givan visit the St Patrick’s club in Lisburn last November.
