THREE of Kilcoo’s All-Ireland winning team are set to play football in America for the summer.
Dylan Ward and Ryan Johnston have both transferred to Chicago club Parnells last week, with Ceilum Doherty’s transfer going through on Monday.
The Kilcoo squad were in New York for a team holiday to celebrate winning the All-Ireland and the trio have stayed for a summer of football in America.
The Magpies, who travel to Castlewellan on Friday night, have lost just once in their nine league games to date, a 1-13 to 2-9 defeat at home to Clonduff.
Kilcoo will face Clonduff in the opening the opening round of the Down Championship, which is again to be played on a back door basis.
Down dual player Tim Prenter has made the switch across the water for a summer of football and hurling in America.
Former Monaghan star Dessie Mone has also made the switch to Chicago to the Padraig Pearses club where he will be joined by Antrim’s Adam Loughran.
Loup have been playing all the way through the league without former Derry player Paddy Coney who moved to Philadelphia with Young Irelands.
All-Ireland Intermediate champions Steelstown have lost three of their team to America for the summer, with Diarmuid Baker joining attacking duo Eoghan Bradley and Cahir McMonagle in the US.
