Tyrone stage comeback to reach All-Ireland semi-final

All-Ireland Football Championship Super 8s Phase Two 2019

Tyrone 2-15 Cork 2-12

From Odhrán Crumley at Croke Park

Tyrone have booked their place in the semi-final of the All-Ireland with a come from behind win against Cork in Croke Park.

The Red Hands came from seven points from behind to book their spot in the last four ahead of their last group game with Dublin.

Luke Connolly rattled the net with the first play of the game with the Rebels attacking straight from the throw-in.

Mickey Harte’s men would struggle in the early exchanges with the Munster men racing through the middle, James Loughery racing through to fire home a fine second major.

Cork would take a 2-4 to 0-5 lead in at the break and with real question lingering over a possible comeback.

In the 43rd minute of the game the comeback would grow legs as Mattie Donnelly and Peter Harte combined for Cathal McShane to punch into the net.

Minutes later, Harte would convert a penalty to put his team into the lead for the first time in the game.

The influence of Mattie Donnelly playing in a more advanced role and the introduction of brother Richie proved pivotal.

Michael Hurley kept his team in touching distance with four scores off the bench but the trio of Tiernan McCann, Conor Meyler and McShane sealed the come from behind win.
