Scotstown hold off late Burren rally to progress

Goalkeeper, Rory Beggan kicked a score from play as Scotstown overcame Burren in an enthralling game at Pairc Esler.

The Monaghan champions led by three at the break on a scoreline of 0-6 to 0-3 dominating the opening half despite kicking thirteen wides.

Scotstown continued to dominate and led 0-11 to 0-4 midway through the first half before losing Kieran Hughes to a black card which changed the complexion of the game.

The Mourne men hit six unanswered points with Donal O’Hare nailing four frees to reduce the arrears to one.

Shane Carey kicked his fifth score of the game before Donal Morgan landed an insurance before Burren substitute David McEntee saw red late on.

Scotstown now progress to the semi-final where they will meet Derry champions, Coleraine on the weekend of November 18th.
