Roscommon stun Monaghan as Cavan come up short

After beating Dublin last weekend, Monaghan have fell to defeat away at Roscommon in Dr Hyde Park.

The Rossies led 0-6 to 0-4 at half time in what was a defensive and highly physical encounter as Enda Smith led the home charge.

Like last time out the introduction of Conor McManus appeared to turn the game in the favour of the Farney Army and it was McManus that kicked his side into the lead with twenty to play.

Stephen O’Hanlon was dismissed for an off the ball incident before Enda Smith converted a 68th minute penalty to give his side a massive victory.

Sean O’Shea kicked 12 points as Kerry eventually fought off a strong Cavan challenge 0-16 to 0-13 at Breffni Park.

Cavan led by four at the interval courtesy of late scores from Dara McVeety and the Breffni Blues appeared to be in control.

Despite O’Shea’s spectacular individual performance, his side trailed until the 62nd minute of the contest as Mark Griffin sent Peter Keane’s men to a lead they would never lose.
