Goals from Declan McClure and Peter Harte secured victory for the Red Hands as Tyrone native, Daire Gallagher grabbed the goal for the students.
Lee Brennan knocked over four points for the visitors while 1-2 from substitute Peter Harte ensured a safe passage for Harte’s men.
In the other fixture in Section C, Derry inspired by a hat-trick of goals from Ben McCarron beat Fermanagh in a relative shoot-out in Brewster Park.
The Oakleaf men emerged victorious on a scoreline of 3-8 to 2-7 to keep their hopes of advancing alive ahead of Wednesday night’s final round game at home to Ulster University.
Ryan Jones and Darragh from the penalty spot, who finished with 1-3 got the majors for the Ernesiders.
In Section A, Donegal and Cavan will battle for a spot in the last four when they meet on Wednesday after both kept their 100% records intact.
Donegal travelled to Pairc Esler and beat Paddy Tally’s Down side by ten points on a scoreline of 1-17 to 0-10 with Caolan McGonigle grabbing the goal.
Cavan hammered Queen’s University, 0-17 to 0-3 with Conor Madden kicking 0-3 after being introduced as a substitute in the second half.
In Section B, St.Mary’s drew with Monaghan while Armagh hammered Antrim.
The Ranch rattled off the last three scores of the game to counteract Barry McGinn’s goal and secure an impressive point in Clones as Shane McGuigan led the Student’s charge.
While Jamie Clarke marked his return to the Armagh set-up with a goal as the Orchard County beat Antrim 2-21 to 1-10 with Ryan McShane netting the other major for Kieran McGeeney’s men.
