Donegal power past weary Cavan to retain Ulster title

Ulster Senior Football Championship Final 2019

Donegal 1-24 Cavan 2-16

From Odhrán Crumley in Clones

Donegal have retained the Ulster title after overcoming Cavan with relative ease in Clones.

In reality, the five point deficit flattered the Breffni men as Stephen Murray’s late goal added gloss to the scoreboard at the finish.

Jamie Brennan continued to shine for the Tir Chonaill men kicking 1-4 on his way to claiming the man of the match accolade.

Declan Bonner’s men lead by eight at the interval and continued to dominate after the break despite Cian Mackey having a say on dragging his team to a more respectable scoreline.

Conor Madden netted to put five between them but, further scores from Patrick McBrearty and Michael Murphy sealed a win for their team.

Donegal will now join Munster Champions, Kerry in the Super 8s.
