David beats Goliath as Ranch return to Sigerson decider

It’s true, David can actually beat Goliath – and if you don’t believe it just have a look at the achievement’s of St.Mary’s over the last number of years.

Despite having a pick of under a thousand which in most cases would struggle towards mounting a charge at the MacRory Cup the Ranch keep delivering.

This time they dealt a vital blow to a UCD side which many termed as ‘invincible’, leading 0-7 to no score at the break after a first thirty minutes back by a gale force breeze.

Stephen McConville led the charge while Liam Rafferty pointed before Jarlath Og Burns landed a monstrous effort from over fifty yards.

UCD finally registered a score in the 38th minute of the contest but the Belfast men kept battling as former Rancher and 2017 St.Mary’s Sigerson winning captain Conor Meyler, now at the Dublin college, was dismissed on a black card.

Despite the elements, McConville would add two further scores as the small teacher training college qualified for the Sigerson Final which will be played in Parnell Park on Wednesday night with a 7:30pm throw in.
