Last Sunday, Declan Lynch made his return to the playing field and kicked his first ball for Antrim in over a year.
A double hip-injury ruled Lynch out before he made a triumphant return to the Saffron camp, his steely determination made it no surprise that Lenny Harbinson made him captain of the team.
“It is a great honour. It won’t change me. To play county for the county is a great honour, but leading the team is something I will never forget.”
The Lambh Dhearg club-man felt that his first game as captain (at home to Derry last weekend) was something the Saffron’s should have gotten something from.
“We knew ourselves we were right on the money and ready to go for it. We were definitely unlucky.
“We have looked at it an we know that our unforced errors cost us the game. I thought that we deserved to take something from the game and others said that to me as well.”
Lynch now prepares to captain his side in another big clash this Sunday as they travel to face Wexford.
