Darragh Canavan called into Tyrone panel

One of Tyrone’s top up and coming young stars has been called into the Red Hand panel for the coming season.

Darragh Canavan, son of former All-Ireland winning captain, Peter, has recently joined up with the squad under county team manager, Mickey Harte, ahead of their Dr McKenna Cup campaign.

The Errigal Ciaran teenager starred for the county’s U-17s when they won the All-Ireland title last year and has since graduated with distinction onto the club’s senior side.

Last month. he was one of the key forwards on the Errigal team which won the Tyrone All-County League title. He also captained their minors to a county championship success in 2018, their second in a row.

It is widely hoped that he will become a regular on the Red Hand side as they bid for Ulster and All-Ireland glory in 2019. The new season begins for the Red Hands when they play Derry on Thursday night at 8pm in Celtic Park in the opening round of the Dr McKenna Cup.
