Bank of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup Semi-Final
Armagh 0-14
Donegal 1-10
Rory Grugan’s point two minutes from time was enough to send Armagh to a mouthwatering, Bank of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup final with old rivals, Tyrone.
The Orchard men led by the minimum at the break after Donegal took an early lead courtesy of a major from Jason McGee with Caolan McGonigle and Niall O’Donnell combining in the build up.
Neither side could edge ahead and create any breathing room as Jamie Brennan levelled with five to play.
Grugan then took his chance to kick the winner at the death as the Tir Chonaill men fell foul to the new handpass rule.
Kieran McGeeney’s men will now move on to meet Mickey Harte’s, Tyrone in the final of the competition, next Saturday night (January 19th) with a 7:30pm throw in.
A coin toss on Monday will be used to decide the venue of the game with Healy Park or Athletic Grounds the options.
