GL Fantasy Football – The secret to NFL success

Those Fantasy managers who have enjoyed success in the Gaelic Life Fantasy Football Championship competition, have tended to pick a team dominated by one or two teams who will eventually go the farthest.

However, the National League calls for a different strategy. Fantasy Managers cannot be narrow-minded or parochial if they want to win. They must first identify the teams which will be successful, as there are usually three or four who will do well, and then the best players from those players must be snapped up.

A spread of players is important in the league, especially the forward line. The defence is probably better mixed between one or two defensive sides, who’re sure not to conceded goals. But your front six should have at least four different counties represented.

Here’s last year’s winning team, selected by Stephen Downey, his manager was Kieran McGeeney:

Sean Quigley is the star man, and Stephen had quite rightly picked the Fermanagh man as captain owing to the fact that he was playing in Division three.

Fermanagh are up to division two this year so that is likely to curtail the Roslea attacker’s scoring. But he should do some damage this year.

Have you selected your team yet?
