When it comes to Fantasy Midfielders, we don’t want work horses who’ll win dirty ball or drop back to protect the defence.
We want the players who grab the headlines, and make charging runs forward.
The first to consider is Antrim’s Michael McCann. He’s back from a break from inter county football, so it is a risk picking him as we won’t be sure if he’s still the star player that he was.
Tyrone’s Sean Cavanagh is always worth a selection, as he regularly kicks a couple of points for the Red Hands.
Derry’s Mark Lynch is a free-taker and will get scores. The concern about him is injury. He pulled up during the McKenna Cup, and that is worry.
Cavan’s Gearoid McKiernan is a class act, and has the potential to score as many points and goals as some half forwards. He’s a solid pick, as long as he avoids injury.
Donegal’s Martin McElhinney was a surprise package last year, and he could do so again.
From Fermanagh Eoin Donnelly is the selection, while Darren Hughes will be a popular choice. He’s one of Ulster’s star footballers, the question marks about him is will he get forward regularly enough to score?
