At the moment the definite retirements in Donegal are Colm McFadden and Eamon McGee.

The latter represents a major loss for Fantasy selectors. He was the joint top scoring full back for Donegal alongside Paddy McGrath with 46 points during the 2016 Championship.

Colm McFadden represented less Fantasy Football of late. A few years ago, he was a good selection, but less game time meant that the St Michael’s forwards got less chance to get the ball over the bar. He managed 10 fantasy points in the 2016 championship.

Rory Kavanagh has yet to decide whether he will play in 2017, and has said to manager Rory Gallagher that he won’t make that decision until the new year. In 2016, he was worth 35 fantasy points in the Gaelic Life competition, that was the seventh best midfielder score of all Ulster players.

The other Donegal players who may also decide to pull the in are Christy Toye and Neil Gallagher.

Toye was the 11th best scoring midfielder in the 2016 championship, managing 25 fantasy points.

Long-term campaigners Karl Lacey and Frank McGlynn have committed to another season. McGlynn was one of the fantasy stars of the Donegal season, scoring 44 fantasy points in the championship at half back. He was also the fourth highest scoring half back in Ulster.

Lacey was 12th best for Donegal with 39 fantasy points from half back. He was the seventh highest fantasy scoring half back in Ulster.

Rory Gallagher has drafted in nine new players to his panel for the upcoming McKenna Cup campaign.

The newcomers are the Naomh Conaill duo Eoghan McGettigan and Ethan O’Donnell, Termon’s Enda McCormick, Aidan McLaughlin from Muff, Cloughaneely’s Jason McGee, Burt’s Mark Coyle, Cian Mulligan of Goath Dobhair, St. Michael’s Michael Langan and Conor Morrison from St. Eunan’s.
