In the modern era, goalkeepers have emerged as players that can deliver more than just a clean sheet.
Niall Morgan, Rory Beggan and Raymond Galligan have each racked up big scores in the past couple of seasons thanks to their free-taking exploits.
However, it is a risky choice. Morgan hasn’t scored as much from frees of late, while the likes of Beggan shipped a few goals in last year’s league.
Last season Antrim’s Chris Kerr put up a big score in division four thanks to his clean sheets. Had he not missed round seven he probably would have finished as the highest scoring keeper in the 2016 fantasy competition.
This year, I’m backing Paddy Morrison to be the top scoring player. He scored 31 points in last year’s league, but he’s in division three this year and will have a solid protection in front of him.
Rory Beggan is probably the second best choice. Monaghan are in division one, but they should keep it tight enough at the back, and he’ll kick scores.
