Mixed emotion for Ulster sides – Ladies Round-Up

There was mixed emotions for Ulster sides in Lidl Ladies National Football League this weekend. 

In Division One, Donegal have made it four wins on the bounce with a two point win against Tipperary in Convoy.

The Tir Chonaill led by two at the break and claimed the invaluable two points thanks to goals from Karen Guthrie, Roisin Friel and Geraldine McLaughlin.

McLaughlin once again, led her teams charge with 1-5 while Roisin Howard made life difficult for the Ulster champions with a personal tally of 2-1.

Maxi Curran’s charges withstood a late Tipp surge to hold on for the points.

In Division Two, Armagh claimed the local bragging rights with a three point win against rivals, Tyrone.

The game was switched to Garvaghey at late notice after originally being scheduled for Healy Park as part of a double header with Tyrone’s senior men’s team.

Armagh led by the minimum at the break courtesy of a fine score from Blaithin Mackin.

Aimee Mackin’s goal ten minutes into the second half proved pivotal in securing both points for her team on a scoreline of 1-9 to 1-6.

In Division Three, Down fell to defeat in Dr Hyde Park as part of a double header with Roscommon and Dublin in the Allianz National Football league.

The Rossies claiming a 1-7 to 0-8 victory to send the home support home happy.

In Division Four, Derry hammered Kilkenny in Moneymore hitting the net four times on the way to victory.

The Oakleafers taming the cats with a 4-28 to 1-8 victory.

Antrim made it two wins from two for Ulster opposition in the fourth tier also, hitting four goals to beat Limerick by nine points on a scoreline of 4-8 to 1-8.
