TYRONE INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER-FINALS
OWEN ROES V KILLEESHIL
Friday, O’Neill’s Healy Park, 8.15pm
OWEN Roes are a strong, combative team and will be full of confidence after their win over Gortin in the first round. Killeeshil know they’ve room for improvement after their narrow win against Cookstown on their first day out.
Verdict: Owen Roes
ROCK V EGLISH
Saturday, Fr Campbell Park, 4pm
A POSSIBLE upset on the cards? Eglish have already won the league title and looked listless for long stretches against Clogher. The Rock looked like a formidable enough outfit against Eglish, but they’re still underdogs here.
Verdict: Eglish
EDENDORK V BERAGH
Saturday, Fr Campbell Park, 4pm
EDENDORK issued a statement of intent with a high-scoring victory over Kildress in their championship opener. They have some of the classiest players in the county so they’ll be favourites against a Beragh side that played well in spells against Naomh Eoghan.V
Verdict: Edendork
GALBALLY V TATTYREAGH
Sunday, Clogher, 4pm
BOTH of these teams have won Intermediate titles recently, but Galbally’s formbook is looking a lot healthier at present. You can’t write off Tattyreagh – they know how to win big games – but if Galbally bring their ‘A’ game they should sneak this one.
Verdict: Galbally
TYRONE JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTER-FINALS
DERRYTRESK V AUGHER
Friday, O’Neill’s Healy Park, 6.45pm
QUITE a tough one to call. Derrytresk didn’t have a good league campaign, but they got by Clann na nGael on penalties in an exciting first-round clash. Augher had a good win over a struggling Killyman side, so it’s hard to know how much to read into that one. This should be a good game and we’ll give Augher the nod.
Verdict: Augher
DRUMQUIN V STEWARTSTOWN
Saturday, Augher, 12.30pm
DRUMQUIN received a bye into the quarter-finals so this is their first championship outing. They had a very good season in the league, finishing seventh, but Stewartstown have been even more impressive. Stewartstown should win but Drumquin will be looking forward to this one.
Verdict: Stewartstown
URNEY V STRABANE
Sunday, Newstownstewart, 12.30pm
TWO north Tyrone rivals go head-to-head for a place in the last four. Urney have hit form at the right time and earned a very good win over Glenelly on their first day out, while Strabane swatted aside Castlederg. There’ll be no quarter asked nor given in this one. Maybe Urney can do it.
Verdict: Urney
FINTONA V AGHALOO
Sunday, Clogher, 2.15pm
THESE two teams played out a recent league encounter, a game Aghaloo won fairly handily. Fintona have had a good season though so they’ll be quietly confident of reversing that result. On paper it’s still Aghaloo’s to lose, given their excellent form all year.
Verdict: Aghaloo
