The county which has the most competitive championship in Ulster according to our readers had a thrilling final on Sunday, as Killyclogher earned a 1-13 to 0-16 draw against Coalisland thanks to a late score in the fourth minute of injury time.

Coalisland had been slight underdogs going into the game, but the match was close throughout.

In fact for periods Coalisland looked the stronger of the two teams. They were 0-8 to 0-6 mid way through the first half.

They suffered a blow when they lost Philly Toner to a bad cruciate injury, and at that stage Killyclogher began their fight bck as Conall McCann’s score left them just a point behind at the interval.

Leo Meenan levelled the game for Killyclogher after the restart, and Killyclogher reeled off another two scores, including points from Mark Bradley and Simon O’Neill. However, Coalisland hit back with a goal from Cathaoir Quinn, leaving the score at 1-8 to 0-10. Killyclogher were dealt a blow when Gary Wallace was red carded. But that strengthened their resolve and they managed to go ahead 0-13 to 1-8.

The teams were level four times during the final ten minutes, and going in to stoppage time Killyclogher led by two, but Coalisland pegged them back and Plunkett Kane’s late score gave Coalisland the lead, but the drama wasn’t over as Nathan Donnelly was the Killyclogher hero with his late fisted point to equalise.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter was awash with praise for both teams.

There was a bit of craic as well about Mark Bradley referring to Coalisland as Clonoe in his post match interview with TG4.
