Tyrone’s Mark Bradley

Mickey Donnelly agrees with the assessment that the Tyrone team has an issue in its attack.

In this year’s National League, The Red Hands were outside of the top 20 scoring teams. They also lost Connor McAliskey to injury during the McKenna Cup.

This has left many to conclude that Tyrone will have an issue with their attack this year.

But Former Tyrone Minor manager Donnelly says in today’s Gaelic Life that this is a product of a bigger issue in the Red Hand county.

“We don’t seem to produce bigger forwards for some reason.

“I don’t know why it is. Is it an impact of going through a go-games culture where we have developed wee buzzy players, who are technically very good but lack power.

“Mickey seems reluctant to throw them in after minor level. He seems to want to give them a bedding in period after a year.

“We’ve too many similar players. We don’t really produce big, powerful forwards like Jack McCarron, Patrick McBrearty, Michael Murphy, Colm McFadden.”

However, he also says that he thinks Tyrone are in a good position heading into the Ulster Championship as they play well in adversity.
