Slaughtneil are one step closer to recording an incredible double in senior mens codes, following yesterday’s six point win over Killyclogher in the Ulster Club Senior Football Championship semi-final.
Having won the Ulster senior Hurling title three weeks ago, the Robert Emmets will win the historic double if they beat Kilcoo in the Ulster Senior Football Club Championship final in a fortnight’s time.
On the evidence of their performance against Kilcoo, few will bet against Slaughtneil winning the Ulster football title, and making dual history. They are odds on favourites with the bookies to win the competition outright.
After they comfortably dismantled the challenge of Cargin, Tyrone champions Killyclogher went into the game with the hope that they could turn over the Derry winners. But they were outplayed, and their star man Mark Bradley was well marshalled by Slaughtneil defender Karl McKaigue.
The response to their win was exultant, as fans used Twitter to further remind us of the Slaughtneil players’ great achievement of succeeding in two codes.

Slaughtneil subs warming up with hurls. Not sure if it’s practice for the hurling semi or a threat.

It’s worth watching on TG4 just to see the catch from Patsy Bradley on 31 minutes. Unbelievable fetch

Se McGuigan’s catch, turn and pass for McGrath’s goal today was simple, effective, brilliant. Patsy Bradley with a serious shift as well
