Conor McManus and Monaghan reminded everyone why they are Ulster Champions yesterday, when the Clontibret forward blasted to the Roscommon net to seal a thrilling 2-10 to 1-9 win in the 0pening round of the National League.
Having trailed throughout the entire game, Monaghan were on the brink of losing to Roscommon, who had been fancied to be relegated out of division one.
However, McManus got possession and raced through on goal, then hit a rasping shot that rattled the back of the net. Cue celebration from the Monaghan fans, and anguish from the Roscommon support.
There was also plenty of reaction on Twitter to the surprise result, as McManus was praised roundly.
Brilliant comeback by Monaghan who won the second half by 10 points.
