Sludden inspired by fan reaction to victory over Meath

Niall’s Niall Sludden was relieved to come out any sort of victory after a thrilling clash with Meath

TYRONE’S Niall Sludden says the fan reaction didn’t go unnoticed after their dramatic qualifier win over Meath last Saturday.

Sludden and his teammates mingled freely with their loyal supporters after an unforgettable encounter at Navan , and he hopes he can give them something more to cheer about in next Saturday’s round two clash against Carlow.

“Sometimes when you win by a point and scrape through you can be a bit downbeat,” he said.

“Byt we can see the reaction of the fans and it shows how much it means. Meath isn’t an easy place to come. We’ll take it from here, we’ve a lot of work to do but hopefully we’ll get a few players back from injuries for the next match.”

“It was tense and probably even tenser for the supporters. We battled and got the score in the end before getting out in front in extra-time. It was an unbelievable game to play in and I imagine an unbelieveable game to watch.”

The full interview with Niall Sludden is in this week’s Gaelic Life, in shops now or available here.
