Shercock hoping to make most of survival

SHERCOCK

Management:

Darragh Roe (manager), Kieran Lennon, Raymond Clarke and Brian Roe (selectors).

Championship programme:

League stage round one:

Shercock v Castlerahan, August 1

Team news:

Shercock remained in the Senior Championship by the skin of their teeth after their relegation play-off win over Cootehill last September. They trailed by four points at the break but goals from Eoin Morrissey and Lee Clarke and good scoring contributions from Niall Clerkin and Ryan Clerkin helped them through. Ryan’s brother Colin will be vice-captain this year while Killian Clarke will skipper the side. The opening draw couldn’t have been much worse as they were pitted against holders Castlerahan, but they will take heart from their meeting in last year’s group stages. With seven minutes to go, they trailed their opponents by just a single point before eventually losing out by five points. Former Shercock captain Darragh Roe is a new manager this season with his brother Brian forming part of the management team. Made a sleepy start to their Division Two campaign as they suffered a home loss to Butlersbridge.
