Last year, Portglenone were involved in one of the most remarkable series of championship football when they had to play three games against Lamh Dhearg in the semi-finals. The two sides played out an almighty tussle, and in the second replayed game, the match was going to be decided by penalties after extra-time. Then county chairman Ciaran McCavana came on the field and stopped the spot-kicks from being taken, as he felt that it was against the spirit of the competition. Portglenone are managed by Derry man Barry Dillon. He oversees a team that has some quality players including Niall Delargy, Dermot McAleese and Niall McKeever. They are a side that will be full of confidence for this year.
