Stephen O’Neill has faith that Tyrone will turn it around for their Ulster Championship date with Derry on May 28

TYRONE’S form has taken a nosedive in the past few weeks but Stephen O’Neill is confident that they can rectify matters for the championship.

Hopes were high of qualifying for the league final after a bright early start but a triple whammy of defeats to Donegal, Mayo and Kerry put an end to that particular ambition.

The Red Hands finished well down the pecking order in sixth position but the 2005 Footballer of the Year says their league woes need to be put into perspective.

“It’s a very tight division, you’re not going to win every game. Even Dublin had to settle for a few draws and were very lucky on a few occasions to get them.”

He added: “I still think Tyrone are in a very strong position. They have a good spell of five or six weeks where they can prepare for a tough Derry game.”
