Nolan reveals Jim Gavin’s management style

Jim Gavin

Jim Gavin’s approach to coaching Gaelic Football has been incredibly successful.

Dublin have dominated the All-Ireland championship for the past two years on his watch, and in this week’s Gaelic Life former player Kevin Nolan reveals some of the approaches that Gavin took in order to create such a successful team.

As part of our build up to next weekend’s All-Ireland semi-final between Tyrone and Dublin, Niall Gartland interviewed Nolan, and in a wide-ranging interview he spoke about Dublin’s approach.

“In the pre-season Dublin would have done work in the basketball court. They’ve looked at different sports and different ways of breaking down the blanket defence.

“There’s no stone left unturned. Every box is ticked. He makes sure there’s no complacency from anyone.

“He knows that from his job as a pilot. If you have any complacency with that, you have a serious problem.”

Nolan goes on to talk about why he thinks Tyrone are the greatest threat to Dublin’s bid to win their third title in a row.

He also explains why Diarmuid Connelly is one of the best players he’s ever seen.
