Mooney to miss Tipp qualifier clash

Caolan Mooney will miss his sides round one qualifier against Tipperary after a meeting of the Central Hearings Committee.

Mooney was sent off near the end of the first half in the Mourne County’s Ulster quarter-final loss at the hands of neighbours, Armagh.

The CCCC took disciplinary action against the Down captain for “behaving in a way that is dangerous to an opponent.”

The hearing requested by the former Aussie Rules man found the alleged fraction to have been proven meaning, Mooney will miss the Tipperary meeting on Sunday week.

Down could appeal the suspension once again but, another appeal seems unlikely at this juncture.
