McCarron makes his move in Monaghan

NEW Scotstown manager David McCague will have a welcome boost this season with the arrival of 2022 All-Star nominee Jack McCarron.

The Farney star, who saved the county from relegation with his heroics against Dublin on the last day of last season’s league, has moved from his native Currin, a club operating at junior level in Monaghan.

A son of former Scotstown and Monaghan player Ray, Jack will follow in his father’s footsteps.

Scotstown have been in the last 10 Monaghan senior finals, but were beaten by Ballybay last season. Clontibret ended their five in a row bid in 2019.

McCarron will join county teammates Shane Carey, Conor McCarthy, Rory Beggan, Darren and Kieran Hughes as Scotstown bid to get their hands back on the Mick Duffy Cup for 22nd time.
