McGinn targeting Monaghan league return

Barry McGinn could make a welcome return for Monaghan at the end of the month

PROMISING Monaghan forward Barry McGinn is hoping to be passed fit for his county’s Division One opener against Mayo on January 28.

The Doohamlet man has been recovering from a cruciate injury picked up last February and although he did play a few minutes in his club’s final league game back in October, he’s targeting the Mayo match as his full return.

McGinn has been training with the Oriel squad since the start of the season and is hoping that he comes into Malachy O’Rourke’s plans for the Clones clash.

“I’m looking forward to the year ahead,” said McGinn.

“Having missed a good bit of action over the last few years, I’m really looking to try and make a mark on the team and try and help the team in whatever way I can.

“As a team, we have a very strong panel full of experience and youth. We are looking forward to challenging ourselves against some of the top teams in Division One to see where we are at and ultimately trying to make sure we have ourselves in a good place heading into the Ulster Championship in May.”
