DONAGHMOYNE’S Frank Markey said the attacking talent coming through the club has played a vital role in their success this season.

The Monaghan side tallied 4-31 in total in comeback victories against Bredagh and Aghagallon, setting up an Ulster Intermediate final against Pomeroy on Sunday.

“The Bredagh match, it was probably the best we’ve played all year,” Markey said.

“Against Aghagallon though we would have been disappointed with the 15 minutes after half-time, we really went to sleep and conceded three goals.

“We were lucky to get back into it and we are lucky to be where we are.

“We have a couple of guys who have come in from the minors over the last couple of years. Our scoring would have been our biggest problem over the last few years.

“We wouldn’t have had any real prolific forwards since Rory Woods retired, he left a gap there. Davy Garland came in this year and you have Ronan McDonald and Stephen Finnegan, they’re all 18, 19 and going very well.

“The speed they bring is so important; it’s maybe another thing we were lacking over the last few years too.
