McVeety still away for Crosserlough charge

CROSSERLOUGH

Management:

Jimmy Higgins (manager), Philip Smith and Pauric Lynch (coaches).

Championship programme:

League stage round one:

Crosserlough v Lavey, August 2

Team news:

The big news in Crosserlough is that Dara McVeety remains in Australia and will not take part in their championship campaign. McVeety, of course, was one of the key reasons why the side reached the county final two years ago when they came so close to claiming a first title since 1972. They looked in good form last year too but ultimately Ramor United would be their undoing. The Dolan Park men won their group meeting between the two and repeated the trick with a two-point semi-final win. The final margin may have been small but, in truth, the ‘Lough men were far from their best and made poor use of the ball despite having the majority of possession. That was a sour note to end on and should provide the motivation as their campaign begins against Lavey. Drew with Castlerahan in the league last week.
