CROSSERLOUGH star Dara McVeety is relishing the prospect of playing a high-flying Cavan Gaels in this Saturday’s senior championship quarter-final.
They go in as rank outsiders against a Cavan Gaels side that are unbeaten all season. Crosserlough are 50/1 to win their first championship since 1972 while Cavan Gaels are outright favourites at 6/5 to regain the title they last won in 2014.
McVeety hopes that nerves don’t get the better of this young Crosserlough side against the tournament favourites.
He said: “They’re absolutely flying, I don’t think they’ve lost a game. They drew a game against Cootehill that they didn’t need to win and they lost a man after thirty seconds.
“They’re flying but we’re happy, this is a new lease of life. We know we’re senior for another year and we’ll see what we can do.
“We’ve a very young team, hopefully nerves won’t get the better of them. This will be the first time playing a team at that level in years. It’ll be an acid test for us to see where we’re at.”
