KEVIN McKernan has been cleared to play against Monaghan in next Saturday’s Round 4B qualifier after his black card picked up in the Ulster final against Tyrone was rescinded last night.
The Burren clubman was black carded in the 41st minute by referee Joe McQuillan following an off-the-ball incident with Sean Cavanagh.
That was his third black card of the year which triggers an automatic one-match suspension. However, following an appeal, the CCCC cleared McKernan of any wrongdoing and he is eligible to play in Down’s qualifier clash against Monaghan.
Meanwhile, Kildare midfielder Kevin Feely is free to play in their upcoming qualifier clash against Armagh. He picked up a third black card of the year against Dublin. While the CCCC found him culpable against Dublin, they rescinded a black card picked up against Clare during the league.
