Tyrone’s Kieran McGeary, left, fired a crucial late score in last year’s Ulster final win over Donegal

AMID the pandemonium of last year’s thrilling Ulster Final climax, Kieran McGeary can barely recall his injury-time point which effectively brought the Anglo Celt title back to Tyrone.

He’s not the only one. Sean Cavanagh and Peter Harte’s pivotal late scores were widely acclaimed as two of the best of 2016, but Tyrone fans could only rest when McGeary’s 75th minute snap-shot sailed through the Donegal posts.

The 22-year-old Pomeroy man has foggy memories of his telling contribution to last year’s final triumph, but at least he has another chance to add to his résumé in Sunday’s Ulster decider against Down.

He said, “You know what, it happened that fast, I keep trying to run it over in my head and it’s hard to remember it. I remember Johnny Munroe or somebody fired the ball out to me and it was a split second decision.

“Thankfully it worked out alright, it went between the posts anyway. I was in the right position at the right time, if it had gone wide I mightn’t be sitting here but it worked out.”
