Loughinisland have reached two of the last three quarter-finals and were disappointed to not reach the last eight last year after narrow losses to Mayobridge, after extra-time, and Ballyholland. Former Tyrone midfielder Jody Gormley is back in charge and he will be expecting the Blues to go further this year. Paddy McKinney captains the side this year while Dan Gordon is back for his 23rd season representing the senior team. They have some long-term injuries though with Conor O’Toole, Brandon Boyd and Peter McMullan currently on the sidelines while Stefan Mason is returning to England. Young players Eddie Nixon and Dara McDonald made their league debuts in the loss to Burren.
